{"id":4670,"date":"2022-02-16T02:20:21","date_gmt":"2022-02-16T02:20:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/omanarbitration.om\/?p=4670"},"modified":"2023-01-04T03:43:41","modified_gmt":"2023-01-04T03:43:41","slug":"oac-and-the-chartered-institute-of-arbitrators-announce-their-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/omanarbitration.om\/?p=4670","title":{"rendered":"OAC and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators announce their partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>PRESS STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The Oman Commercial Arbitration Centre (OAC) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) are delighted to announce their partnership to offer CIArb\u2019s \u2018gold standard\u2019 arbitrator training and accreditation courses in Oman.<\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The partnership comes in response to the marked preference by Omani and international parties doing business in and through Oman to resolve their disputes through arbitration, and the resultant growing demand for alternative dispute resolution (ADR) training.<\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Under this strategic partnership, the two institutions will jointly offer, for the first time in Oman, CIArb\u2019s world-renowned \u2018Pathways in International Arbitration\u2019 programme which also includes accelerated route courses to CIArb Membership and Fellowship.<\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">All individuals who acquire CIArb Fellowship through any of these courses will be deemed to have satisfied the important first step \u2013 the education and training requirement \u2013 for admission onto OAC\u2019s Panel of Arbitrators.<\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The courses, offered in Arabic and English*, will be delivered in accordance with CIArb\u2019s regulations, standards, and would make use of CIArb tutors, syllabi, and course content, and also the CIArb\u2019s centralised assessment system. These courses will be conducted in the conventional face-to-face mode as well as in a virtual environment.<\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The partnership would also strive to generally increase awareness of the advantages of arbitration and other forms of ADR to members of the business and legal communities in Oman and the wider MENA region.<\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The partnership agreement was signed recently by Dr Moosa Al Azri, CEO of the OAC and Catherine Dixon, Director General of CIArb. On the occasion of the signing of this strategic partnership, Dr Al Azri said, \u201cThis historic partnership is part of the greater vision of the OAC to build capacity in arbitration in the Sultanate of Oman and generally enhance the attractiveness of Oman as a seat and venue for arbitrations.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Catherine Dixon CIArb\u2019s Director General said \u201cCIArb is delighted to be working with the OAC to deliver International Arbitration training in Oman to establish Oman as an attractive and sustainable seat for international arbitration. This exciting collaboration will enable arbitration practitioners and those aspiring to be arbitrators, to access world-class internationally recognised training and to join CIArb\u2019s global and diverse membership of over 17,000 ADR practitioners operating in over 150 jurisdictions.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n<h6 dir=\"ltr\">\u00a0*With the exception of the accelerated route courses which will be delivered in English only.<\/h6>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>ABOUT OAC<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Stemming out of Oman\u2019s 2040 vision which aims to encourage new investments in Oman, the Oman Commercial Arbitration Centre (OAC) was established by Royal Decree as an independent legal entity with administrative and financial autonomy in its operations.<\/p>\r\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The OAC aims to provide an institutional mechanism to ensure the expeditious, cost effective and totally neutral administration of arbitration and other forms of ADR to local, regional and international parties.
