Chief Executive Officer’s Welcome Speech

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Oman Commercial Arbitration Centre’s website.

In a world where business and economic activities amongst individuals, companies and countries are on the rise, arbitration, mediation and other methods of alternative dispute resolution have become today’s instrument of resolving disputes in trade, business and investment. It could be said that there is a real race amongst countries of the world to provide alternative methods of resolving trade disputes in response to the requirements of the business environment.

The establishment of the Oman Commercial Arbitration Centre under Royal Decree 26/2018, as part of Oman’s 2040 Vision and fulfilling its objectives, stemmed from the Sultanate’s belief that it is time to be on the map of arbitration and mediation to provide an attractive environment for investment in Oman.

We believe at OAC that the road ahead is both lengthy and challenging, however our most important obligation remains to earn the trust of parties through our values of independence, neutrality and transparency, and that Oman, with its policy of peace, the extended friendship to all countries of the world alongside its rich history of values of justice and tolerance are its true wealth as well as its political stability, its unique geographical location between Asia and Africa and its more than 3,000-kilometre coastline overlooking the Indian Ocean, which all shall make the Centre’s mission attainable.
